Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

Duration: 

1 Day

This general induction training covers the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work, or conduct work on a construction site. It includes a basic knowledge of requirements under WHS Act, the common hazards and risks likely to be encountered on construction sites and how these risks should be controlled. 


Course Delivery 

Duration: 1 day 

This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom setting with an assessment conducted via verbal questioning, written testing and practical demonstration. 


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process which recognises a person’s knowledge and skills built from previous experience and courses. As this a one-day short course, and incorporates this assessment process, RPL is not available.

  • Introduction to WHS legislation and responsibilities 

  • Consultation 

  • WHS Information 

  • Risk Management 

  • Construction industry hazards 

  • Incidents and emergencies 

  • Workers compensation and injury management 


Mandatory requirements:

  • 14 years of age or older

  • Unique Student Identifier (USI)

  • 100 points of original Identification, including photo ID (as per SafeWork NSW or WHSQ requirements), 

  • Good level of English language, literacy & numeracy skills. 


If English is your second language, you MUST ensure that you are able to understand and converse with our Trainers fluently in English. Unfortunately we are unable to provide translation services for our courses and translation apps are not allowed to be used in class. Please consider the suitability of our courses for your individual needs as we cannot honour a refund for not yet competent results due to language barriers. 

 

Pre-enrolment Process:

The student must understand the course requirements and may submit an Application for Enrolment Form which includes an assessment of their language, literacy, numeracy and digital capabilities for suitability and support requirements to be successful.

DATS staff will review the application and will advise the student if their application is accepted.


Course Fees 

All enrolments are considered tentative until payment has been received.

Course Outcome 

Upon successful completion participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment in CPCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry and a SafeWork NSW or WHSQ White card depending on delivery State.
