RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package

The key client groups for this qualification are local contractors and supervisory staff at a workplace. These workplaces include:

  • Civil Construction projects

     

Pathways:

This qualification reflects the role of employees working in supervisory positions in civil construction. They perform tasks involving a broad range of varied activities, most of which are complex and non-routine. They are responsible for the quantity and quality of the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and apply management plans to the workplace. Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this qualification can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. Relevant information must be sourced prior to application of the qualification. ​

 

Entry Requirements:

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Applicants must be able to speak and understand English to participate in the assessment. Oral assessments can be arranged for applicants with writing and reading difficulties.

Course Description:

This qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator working with civil construction plant, who applies a broad range of skills in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge. The individual may provide theoretical advice and support a team

Course Duration:

The expected completion period is a maximum of 18 months.

Qualification Structuring Rules:

The following provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.

Successful completion of twelve (12) units of competency made up of:

  • five (5) core units, and

  • seven (7) elective units of which:

  • at least two (2) must be chosen from group A

  • at least two (2) must be chosen from group B

  • no more than two (2) units may be chosen from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed Training Package, or from an accredited course

All elective units selected from outside this qualification must reflect current occupational and learning outcomes of the AQF qualification level.

There are both licensed and non-licensed units of competency relating to high risk work in the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. To be appointed under any statutory requirements in related roles, units of competency should be selected to meet the state/territory licensing requirements.

There are prerequisites to imported units listed in this qualification. Where a unit is imported as an elective care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified are complied with.

  • at least two (2) must be chosen from Group A, and

  • a further three (3) may be chosen from Group A, B or C and

  • no more than one (1) may be chosen from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

  • Care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified within imported units, or units chosen as electives, are complied with.

Pathways:

Participants undertaking this qualification predominantly work on a single or a group of Civil Construction sites, as Supervisors or Leading Hands.

This qualification reflects the role of employees working in supervisory positions in civil construction. They are responsible for the quality and quantity of the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and apply management plans to the workplace.

Dickens Assessment and Training Services have made every effort to ensure the ethnic, cultural and intellectual aspects of the target group have been considered in the selection of appropriate delivery and assessment methods for this qualification.

Learning Needs of Candidates

A number of units in this qualification have key competencies at Level 4, which indicates a high level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy. RTO administers a LLN assessment to all candidates at the ‘sign up’ stage to determine any required needs; and through their monitoring process can identify areas of concern and offer support throughout the course progression.
